The age of green is upon us. We have reached a point in our human evolution where science, math, and creative genius have discovered a way to suspend a living forest in mid air. The answer to city pollution is now Stefano Boeri’s Bosco Verticale, the world’s first 27-story microclimate apartment towers currently under construction in Milan, Italy. Built to function as city air purifiers, these lush apartments will include over 900 trees, 5,000 bushes, and 11,000 plants throughout the tower balconies. Each perch of life will aid in reducing city noise, moderating atmospheric temperatures, absorbing CO2 emissions, and acting as an energy sustainer for seasonal weather shifts.

The fascinating story of ‘the Royal One’ opal which will soon be on display and for sale in Las Vegas
Nicknamed “the Royal One,” the opal was discovered in Lightning Ridge, Australia — the only place in the world known to produce the highly coveted black opal. The miner who unearthed this once-in-a-lifetime find 14 years ago says he kept it secret for fear of being robbed by his competitors.
The miner, who prefers to be known only as Bobby, says he fell on hard times after being jilted by a crooked opal dealer. He sold his mining equipment to a friend and returned home with his last bucket of “rough knobbies,” the rocks in which opals can be encased. When he sat down one afternoon and began rubbing at one of the rocks, he says hints of a dazzling green and gold gem were revealed.
He spent two years laboriously chipping away at the stone with a dental drill. Without the resources to sell the opal on his own, he kept it under his mattress in the Australian outback for over a decade.
“I considered myself the guardian of one of God’s greatest creations and was in no hurry to part with it,” he said. “It took 14 years to find someone worthy enough to be trusted to be the next guardian.”
